Baby & Preemie Quilt Help

Not all babies in the NICU are tiny. 

Baby quilts should be no larger than 25" x 25"

Make the same way as preemie quilts, no batting or binding.

1. Start with two pieces of fabric – one for the top, one for the back.
    
2. For the backing, use a soft fabric like flannel, fleece, or minky.
   (Please don’t use regular cotton fabric for the back – the quilt will be too thin for preemies.)
    
3. Place right sides together and sew a 1/2 inch seam all the way around,
   **leaving an opening to turn the quilt right side out.
    
4. Turn the quilt right side out and push out the corners.
    
5. Topstitch a ¼” seam all the way around the quilt’s edge,
   making sure to close the opening securely.
    
6. Add a few lines of stitching both horizontally and vertically.
   to help it hold its shape during washing. (Just sewing a X will result in the quilt not holding it's shape when washing.)
